“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7.
This is the short version of our story: God made the first man, he sinned, and by his sin all of us born after him were born sinners. We had one end because of sin and that was death. But there was a twist in the plot that had been introduced mysteriously into the script and hidden over the years in scriptures. Jesus Christ came and died to free us from sin and change our future.
Initially our future- because of sun- had nothing good laid up for us. Sickness, depression, and eventually death (eternal separation from God) awaited us. But the sacrifice of Jesus Christ came and ensures a different future outcome for us. Jesus died and resurrected to bring us life and peace. Death and the consequences of sin were wiped off our slate. Like Colossians 2:14 said “God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross.” By the cross of Christ, our sins have been forgiven.
So you need to stop thinking that life is all about being good or morally upright. Yes, it’s good to be good or morally upright, but you are still under the bondage of sin and death if you haven’t identified with the finished work of Christ. Also you don’t have to try to deal with all your issues before you receive Jesus. Jesus Christ sacrifice was made to free you; you can’t set yourself free from sin, only Jesus can.
The above scripture says that it’s by grace that we have been saved, not by our own works or ability that we should boast. Anyway, whether you boast or not, by your own abilities you can never be free from sin. The law couldn’t rescue you, it is only Christ’s Sacrifice that could bring you complete freedom from sin and death.
Today, why don’t you just surrender yourself to the Lord Jesus Christ and cease from your fruitless works. Stop trying to be a ‘Self-made’ man and become a ‘Jesus-made’ man. How? Believe in the sacrifice He made for your freedom and proclaim Him Lord of your life. Trust me, you’ll never be the same.
